Christmas in April

For over 20 years, Caruso Homes has been a proud partner with Christmas in April of Prince Georges County, a volunteer organization that gathers funding, supplies and volunteers who come together each year on the last Saturday in April to repair the homes of senior citizens who are low income and/or physically challenged. Since 1989, Christmas in April has renovated over 2,500 homes to help those in need. Past projects completed by Caruso Homes include repairing basements that were damaged by floods, adding ramps for handicap access, renovating kitchens and bathrooms, repairing fences and much more!

Alpha House

In partnership with the Home Builders Care Foundation (HBCF), Caruso Homes led a project to renovate the Alpha House, a four-bedroom single family home in old town Bowie that is run by the St. Matthews Housing Corporation. The organization provides transitional housing for low-income families affected by domestic violence or tragedy that has left them homeless, while also providing financial, educational and mental health support services to help the participants achieve economic stability and become self-sufficient. Caruso Homes, along with several of our trade partners, provided some much needed TLC by replacing the heating system, installing new windows and flooring, and replacing the sidewalk.

Our company and team members take pride in supporting our local community in a variety of ways. From renovating an elementary school teachers lounge and purchasing school uniforms to sponsoring scholarship funds and youth sports teams, Caruso Homes is dedicated to creating strong, happy environments for children to grow and thrive. In addition, we provide donations to police and fire organizations, local nursing homes and hospice care, and neighborhood events to support the infrastructure of our communities.

As a top supporter of HBCF, Caruso Homes has provided both funding and project expertise to carry out the agency’s mission to give back by utilizing our skills and resources to carry out shelter-related construction projects for the homeless and others at-risk in the community.

In the past three years, the HBCF has:

  • Undertaken 43 community service projects
  • Helped over 3,900 men, women and children in crisis
  • Maintained 300 shelter units with donated construction expertise
  • Created 79 new housing units
  • Provided toys and gift cards to 1,200 children during the holidays
  • Donated 5,500 items of professional clothing for job interviews
  • And much more!

Maryland Corporate Office:

With over 30 years’ experience in the building industry, Jeff Caruso has been instrumental in the planning, development and construction of more than 70 residential communities throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, some of which include a condominium component. His current focus is to expand Caruso Homes into a regional home builder operating across the South Eastern United States. Currently Caruso Homes is active in entitling and developing over 3000 lots in Maryland and North Carolina.

Jeff is a 20-year member of the National Association of Home Builder (NAHB) also a member of NAHB’s Builder 20 organization, and is an expert in all aspects of development and construction with many designations including a Master in Residential Marketing (MIRM) and Certified Active Adult Specialist in Housing (CAASH). Jeff is also a member of the Community Development Committee for Urban Land Institute, he is on the board of directors for the Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA) and is the current President of the MBIA.

Caruso Homes

Mark Somerville has been with the Caruso Organization since 2003 when he was hired to start and manage the Land Development Division of the Company. Mark has since developed over 2,300 residential building lots in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware including single family homes, multi-family product and active adult product. As the market began to change, his duties and responsibilities increased and he began to focus more on the home building operations and less on land development. In 2011, he was promoted to President of Caruso Homes and took over responsibilities for all aspects of the Company's vertical operations.

A civil engineer by education, he gained his project management background while employed with two of the largest general contractors in the nation. Using systems and organizational principles learned with these firms, Mark has fully integrated the Company's internal systems to provide accurate and strict controls for the members of the Caruso Team. He has combined his 15 years of Land Development, Heavy and Commercial Construction and Project Management experience with the home building industry and utilizes a professional and technical approach to the management of the Company. Mark’s main focus is to increase efficiency within the company's operations to keep expenses and waste to a minimum while continuing to produce a high quality home and above standards of service to the customers, development team, trade partners and the Caruso Homes family.

Caruso Homes

Tom Baldwin joined Caruso Homes in 2011. Tom directs all sales and marketing strategies overseeing advertising and marketing plans, market analysis, public relations, sales processes, customer service and day-to-day management of Caruso’s sales team. Prior to joining Caruso Homes, Tom worked with a national homebuilder as a sales and marketing representative and construction manager and has over 9 years of sales and construction experience. Since 2006, Tom has overseen the construction and sale of over 600 homes and has been honored by industry leaders for excellence in sales, construction and customer service.

Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Salisbury University and is a NAHB Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS). He is a member of the 50+ Housing Council, the Sales and Marketing Council and the Future Industry Leaders Association within MBIA. In 2014, Tom was named the Sales and Marketing Manager of the year by the Maryland Builders Industry Association and in 2017 he was named to the Professional Builders Forty Under 40 list.

Caruso Homes

Mitchell Gordon is a seasoned finance and accounting professional with over 20 years of real estate industry experience, 10+ years specifically in production homebuilding.  As CFO of Caruso Homes, Mr. Gordon is responsible for the Company’s accounting, finance and investor relations activities. Previously, Mr. Gordon was President of Aeroterm, a subsidiary of Realterm Global,  where he had complete financial and operational oversight associated with a $1.5B+ AUM, 12M+ sq. ft., 400+ tenants, industrial real estate portfolio with more than 60 direct and 30 shared service employees, as well as 20+ institutional investors.  Mr. Gordon also worked as Senior Regional Vice President of Finance, Studio and Purchasing throughout the Florida Region for KB Home, Inc. where he oversaw the delivery of more than 8,000 homes during his tenure.  Mr. Gordon is a licensed certified public accountant and received a MBA from the University of Baltimore.

Stephanie is the Controller for Caruso Homes, Inc. and has been with the Company for over ten years. She started as a Sr. Financial Analyst before becoming the Controller for the Land Division and then the Corporate Controller.  Stephanie manages all accounting, reporting and financial planning at Caruso Homes.  Stephanie has spent most of her professional career in the construction industry and prior to joining Caruso Homes, she worked as an Accountant and then as an Assistant Controller. Stephanie has a true passion for the home building industry and in 2010 she became an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP®).  Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Dan Roys has been with the company for a total of 18 years. Starting as an Assistant Superintendent, he has worked his way up through the company to Director of Construction. His responsibilities are all capacities of construction to include budgets, trade contractor assignment, schedules, field personnel management, and customer service. Dan works on a daily basis with Sales, Purchasing, the Custom Home Division, Accounting, and Land Development departments. He is a member of the Trade Council for Caruso Homes with a 7 member council organized to maintain ongoing communication with all trades. Dan consistently educated himself through hands on experiences and through nationally recognized seminars on a yearly basis, helping him and the company achieve goals and overcome many obstacles. Prior to Caruso he had worked in the field for a custom home builder, building homes from the ground up the “old fashioned” way. Dan has been married for over 32 years and has one son who works in Caruso’s Purchasing Department. His second passion is cooking, he has been to culinary school and is a Certified Chef trained specifically in French cuisine.

Nancy Walsh, the Director of Executive Services, has been with Caruso since the beginning of 2000. In this capacity she works directly with Jeff Caruso on various aspects of the Corporations’ business. In her position as Corporate Secretary, she coordinates the registration and licensing of all corporate entities with the State of Maryland, and private entities, such as Residential Warranty Corporation, and is the key contact for risk management of builders risk and corporate liability through the companies’ insurance agents. Nancy also serves as Human Resources Management for Caruso Homes.

Prior to joining Caruso, Nancy was employed with Freddie Mac for thirteen years as a Senior Financial Analyst responsible for pricing the purchase of multi-billion dollar investment quality Multi-family loans, and interacting with investment and banking institutions, as well as Wall Street brokerage firms.

Robert “Bob” Oliff joined Caruso Homes in 2011 as the Director of the Custom Home “On Your Lot” Division.  Bob is responsible for the daily operational aspects of the business to include sales, marketing, budgeting and field operations along with land acquisitions for the custom home division. With almost 35 years in the building industry, he brings his knowledge and integrity to every interaction, helping buyers build their dream home on their lot. To date Bob has successfully marketed and sold over $30 million in revenue for the Custom Home Division. 

Prior to joining Caruso Homes, Bob worked with a national homebuilder for seventeen years as a Community Manager successfully opening and managing through settlement over two thousand homes. Bob has eleven years in the commercial industry as well, managing large commercial projects to include office buildings, schools, and additions to hospitals.  Bob has been recognized throughout his career as dedicated to exceeding all set benchmarks established before him.

Caruso Homes

A veteran in the new home industry, Ed began his career in 1989, learning the business from the ground up in a small family-owned home building company.  Since then Ed has overseen construction of 3,200 new homes. Ed has held every position from Project Supervisor/Manager to Sales and Marketing Representative and Sales Manager, to General Manager, Vice President, and Division President for a National Builder. In this role, Ed oversaw the Land Procurement, Sales & Marketing of 300 – 500 homes a year, Production and Customer Service.  In both 2000 and 2001, He won Sales Manager of the Year. Ed has a proven track record for developing winning teams and turning poor performing communities to winners.

As the Northern Division Manager for Caruso Homes, Ed is leading the expansion of Caruso Homes into the Northern Maryland areas. Ed’s team is responsible for both custom home opportunities, as well as developing and building townhouse and single family communities.

Ed grew up in Baltimore and has been servicing that territory throughout his career. Ed also believes in giving back to the community. He has been involved in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for over a decade. Currently he is the President of the Board of Trustees for LLS.

Christy N. Beck, MIRM, CSP, Broker possesses a solid background in new home sales, management, marketing and training. Her extensive knowledge of the New Homes industry has been gained through her vast experience in positions such as Sr. Vice President of new Homes at Coldwell Banker Howard Perry & Walson, Vice President of Marketing for Bill Clark Homes and Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Sunstar Homes/Lennar Corporation. She is a Master in Residential Marketing (MIRM) and a Certified Sales Professional (CSP). She has held various leadership positions with NAHB and currently serves as the incoming Chair of NSMC and serves on NAHB Education. In January 2017 at the International Builder Show, Christy received the Bill Molster Lifetime Achievement award for her service to NAHB, NSMC and the Institute of Residential Marketing. Locally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Raleigh-Wake HBA. Christy has been the recipient of numerous sales and marketing awards by the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council (TSMC) MAME awards including Rookie of the Year (1995), Sales Person of the Year (1999) and Silver Marketing Manager of the Year (2001). In 2012 she was named Sales Manager of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders.

Christy joined Caruso Homes in 2017 to help launch the brand in North Carolina. She oversees all the Sales and Marketing for the Triangle division. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband Greg, son Dylan and her golden doodle Harley.
