If you've just moved into the Charlotte area, congratulations! A big move is exciting. Now that you're settled in, it's time to think about how you can enjoy life like a local.
Springtime in Charlotte provides new opportunities for new adventures! Here are some of the best ways you and your family can enjoy spring break in the area.
Year Round Activities
Charlotte has it all, from thrilling adventures to dynamic artistic shows, family activities, and a vibrant nightlife - and much of this is available any time of year!
From attractions like the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster at
Carowinds Amusement Park, to museums like the Nascar Hall of Fame and the hands-on Discovery Place Science, as well as outdoor excursions at countless scenic destinations (we'll tell you about a few of our favorites in the next section!).
Floral Attractions
The outdoors is what it's all about when the sun starts shining and the flowers are in bloom. In Spring, you have to stop and smell the roses at Freedom Park or Rountree Plantation.
For a truly magnificent view of flowers, head to the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh during the annual
Art in Bloom exhibit. Thousands of people visit this incredible museum in Raleigh for four days each March and 50 floral displays.
Water and Warm Weather
If the weather is heating up and you need a way to cool off, Charlotte has pretty easy access to water. Just a 20 mile drive from Charlotte you can catch sun at Lake Norman. And for a fun day trip or weekend away, head to the beautiful Myrtle Beach.
Thrillseekers should check out white water rafting, kayaking and other excitement at
Whitewater Center. And adventurers can hike the trails along the beautiful 200+ mile Catawba River.
Festivals for Food Lovers
In the spring, there are a number of local food, beer and wine festivals that pop up around Charlotte. Grab your calendar and save the date for a few of these anticipated events in
March, April and May:
- Taste the Beach (Outer Banks)
- Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues, and Jazz Festival (Kure Beach)
- Wilmington Wine and Food Festival (Wilmington)
- Hook, Line, and Drinker (Sylva)
- Ham and Yam (Smithfield)
We want new residents of Charlotte to start enjoying their new surroundings immediately. And part of getting settled in is finding the perfect house in the right location.
